The problem
The farmers who most need to plan are least able to
Most of Brazil's farms are family farms. The tools that help anticipate the next cycle were built for the others.
The numbers
77%
of Brazil's 5.1 million agricultural establishments are family farms. That is 3.9 million holdings deciding their season with no forecasting tool at all.

66%
of every agricultural worker in the country is in family farming. Millions of households depend on what these fields produce.

What is happening
Family farming accounts for three in every four agricultural establishments in Brazil, yet occupies less than a quarter of the land. Many small holdings, responsible for two thirds of all agricultural labour.
Under Brazilian law (Lei 11.326/2006, regulated by Decreto 9.064/2017) a family farmer must meet four criteria at once: hold up to four fiscal modules, use at least half family labour, draw at least half of family income from the holding, and manage it on a strictly family basis.
Deciding whether to plant more or less next cycle means anticipating price, weather and credit. In October 2025, delinquency on free-rate rural credit reached 11.4%, the highest level since the series began. Lenders tightened supply in response, and rural credit moved further out of reach.
Harvest forecasts exist and are public. CONAB publishes monthly surveys. But they are written for people who already know how to read them. Sight does not produce a better forecast. It translates the one that already exists.
How Sight solves this
Sight does not invent a new forecast. It translates the forecast that already exists into the numbers of your own field.
- 1
It predicts yield. A statistical model estimates how many bags per hectare your state should return, from weather and the yield trend of the last 38 years.
- 2
It turns that into tonnes. You say how many hectares you plan to plant. Sight multiplies and shows your harvest volume.
- 3
It shows the result in reais. With price, exchange rate and cost per hectare, Sight works out revenue, cost and margin, and tells you how many bags per hectare you need just to cover your cost.
What Sight is not
- Not a commercial product. It is free and sells nothing.
- Not a replacement for CONAB, IBGE, or agronomic advice.
- Not individual advice. The forecast is for the market, not your field.
